WELCOME

Here are some wedding flowers related questions we have received and whose answers you may find helpful. If your question isn't below please get in touch to ask.

We love to help.

What type of weddings do you cater for?

We specialise in medium sized weddings for couples who absolutely love flowers, and enjoy a beautifully styled aesthetic.

What type of wedding service do you offer?

We offer two types of wedding flowers service; Collection (Gathered) or Full (Spellbound) Service. Gathered means that you will collect your order from us the day before your wedding. This service does not carry a minimum order requirement from April through September. In October and November collect weddings carry an €1200 minimum order requirement. Spellbound includes delivery, installation, access to our accessories inventory and much more. This service carries a minimum spend requirement of €1700 during the Irish growing season (March 31st to September 30th), and €2500 during out of season months. Our services are not "packages" - each service is customised individually to your wedding requirements.

Where can I see examples of your work and read testimonials?

On our social media sites, @howehillflowers on Instagram and Facebook, and on this website.

Where do you source your flowers/foliage?

We grow the majority of our flowers and foliage’s in our West Cork cutting gardens between late March and late September. We buy other Irish flowers and foliage through local growers within our Flower Farmers of Ireland network. During the off-season, and occasionally if an item we require is unavailable locally grown, we buy through Hoek Flowers in Holland and through Central Floral in Cork city.

Are there flowers that you don’t work with?

Yes. We avoid working with dyed, bleached or chemically processed flowers. We do not work with artificial/plastic flowers. We try to use flowers that are in season and have the least carbon footprint.

Do you use floral foam?

We do not use conventional floral foam (oasis). If foam is required we use AgraWool, which is a natural foam and is completely home compostable. We have spent 2 years learning alternative foam-free floral design techniques.

Do I need to book a consultation? And what should I bring?

Yes, all consultations need to be prebooked. We conduct all our consultations in November and February only. Consultations are either in person at our studio near Kilbrittain or via Zoom. Ideally you will bring a draft list of the items you need, any chosen colour samples, and any visual references of things you like. You can also book a Site Visit at your ceremony or venue location which includes a consultation also.

Is there a consultation fee?

One Zoom or in person consultation is included at no extra charge for our full service weddings. Otherwise, a consultation at our studio or via Zoom is €50. A site visit is €250 plus travel costs. You can email anytime at no cost.

I am abroad and can’t get to you for a consultation. What should I do?

We can have a consultation through Zoom. You can email anytime.

I am working with an event planner/stylist. Can I work with you through them?

Yes, we will happily work with an event planner/stylist, it should be noted however, we will always stay true to our own floral style. We work with seasonal, fresh produce, preferably locally grown and sourced.

Can you service larger or smaller wedding flowers orders?

Yes. We would love to hear what you have in mind.

How much should I spend on my wedding flowers?

Realistically, allocating 15% or more of your overall wedding budget is recommended for a beautiful selection of wedding flowers. If flowers are an important styling element of your wedding we would recommend to allocate 20% or more of your total wedding budget to your flowers. It really depends on how much flowers you personally would like for your wedding. An budget example might be - overall wedding budget €37000, flowers budget = €5550+. Wedding flowers take a huge amount of time and skill to prepare. They are a perishable material and generally considered a luxury buy. We have set out a price guide for all the individual elements you might require. You can choose from them as many or as few items as you require and can budget for.

What is an average or typical spend on wedding flowers with you?

An average or typical full service wedding with us is currently between €2000 and €5000 (2023). However, we provide flowers for smaller and larger budgets. It is vital that we know your maximum flowers spend before we begin planning your wedding flowers suite so that we can make suggestions suitable to you and your day.

I am on a budget. Can you work with me?

All of our wedding clients are on a budget. Please let us know what yours is so that we can make suggestions to best suit it.

Do you have an order minimum?

Yes. And no....

Our Spellbound service weddings carry a minimum order requirement of €1700+ during the Irish growing season, and €2500 out of season.

If you order flowers which you will collect yourself, in the Irish growing season, there is no minimum spend requirement during the Irish growing season, and €1200 out of season.

Do you include VAT in your prices, or is this added on at the end of a quote?

We quote inclusive of VAT. The prices you see on your quote or within our price guide include VAT at 13.5%. We can provide a VAT invoice if requested.

Can I supply my own flowers and/or foliage for you to work with?

Unfortunately this is not something that we can accommodate. We will however add a flourish of a sentimental item from a family garden to a bouquet or buttonhole if required. This will in no way affect the items cost.

Can you provide flowers for me to DIY my wedding?

Unfortunately no. Essentially you are becoming the florist, and need to completely plan each design and it's ingredients list. It is akin to asking a Michelin star chef to provide the ingredients for their signiture dish, which you will make yourself!

When do I need to book my date?

As soon as you have decided that we are the florist for you, you should book your date with us. We accept a limited amount of weddings each year, and have a one Spellbound wedding per week policy. If that wedding is larger we take no other work during that week and work exclusively on that event.

How do I book my date?

You will need to submit a completed and signed booking questionnaire by email and paid the booking fee.

How much is your booking fee?

We ask for a non-refundable booking fee of €100.

When do I pay the bill?

We request the balance to be paid in full 14 days before the wedding day.

How do I pay you?

We prefer payments by bank transfer, and we can email you these details should you need them. We can also accept payment through Revolut and in cash.

When will I need to make the final decision on my flowers?

We plan our gardens around your flower selection and colour palate, so ideally the sooner we know these details the better. You can make changes up to 6 weeks before your wedding day, after that the list is final.

When are my flowers put together?

We usually begin harvesting your flowers and foliage 3 to 4 days before the wedding day. If flowers are being bought in they usually arrive 2 to 4 days before the day. Large items in vessels are put together 1 to 2 days before the main day, often “greened up” first and flowers added later. Bouquets are made the day before the wedding. Buttonholes and hair flowers are always the last things to be put together. No matter how large or small your wedding, your flowers will take 3 to 5 days to prepare, plus months of thought and planning.

Do you charge a delivery fee?

Yes. The delivery fee depends on the location, and if we can fit all your flowers/rentals into our own company van or if we need an additional rental van to transport your order. We charge a delivery fee of 60c per km return in our own company van. If we need to hire a second, or a larger van, a van rental charge applies. We hire our extra vans from Enterprise and their rates + VAT and fuel applies. There is no charge for you to collect your own flowers.

Do you charge an installation or service fee?

Yes. If we have to spend time setting up flowers at any location outside of our studio a service fee applies. Depending on the size of the wedding and the amount of service work involved this may be approximately  20% or 30% of the overall bill. Service is charged at a per person and per hour rate of €35 per person per hour. Most wedding day's involve a 10 hour day for us. We can advise how many staff will be required to service your wedding based on your requirements.

Can you do a "production" wedding?

Yes. This is one of our most favourite things to do! We can bring our team to your venue, and spend up to 5 days filling it with the most exquisite florals (and afterwards taking it down). Please email us directly to inquire.

Do you do weddings outside Co.Cork?

Yes. However, we believe the shorter the distance the flowers have to travel the more beautiful they will be and the lesser the overall carbon footprint of your wedding will be. Please check how far your wedding is from us on Google Maps, our eircode/postcode is P72CX34.

Do you have items such as vases and and styling accessories to hire?

Yes. We have an inventory which is listed within our Accessories Catalogue (available by request). Our Accessories are available to our Spellbound Service weddings only. WE DO NOT HIRE OUR ACCESSORIES INVENTORY AS STANDALONE ITEMS (ie. without a flowers order)

Can I provide my own vases and accessories?

Yes. So long as they are suited to the flowers and the purpose this is not a problem.

Do you collect your items after the wedding or will I need to return them to you?

Collection of our rental items is included in our service fee.

Is there a charge to collect accessories and dismantle the flowers?

Collection of accessories and dismantling is included in our service fee. Depending on the amount of work involved the service fee is usually 20% to 30% of your flowers bill, ie. if the cost of the flowers and rental comes to €2895 the additional service charge will most likely be between €€579 (20%) to €868.50 (30%).

Why is there a service charge added to my bill?

A service charge covers us to work for you on the wedding day, after all the flowers have been harvested/bought and put together. It will involve 1, 2 or more staff working an approx ten hour day on your wedding day, and possibly the day after, collecting rental items and cleaning. We charge service as a percentage of the flowers bill, and it's amount depends on the distance we have to travel and how many hours we will need to work on the day.

What happens if there are any last minute changes at our venues eg. our church advises us that there is a funeral before our wedding?

Let us know as soon as you know and we can try to accomodate a plan change.

Do you have specific wedding related terms and conditions?

Yes, you can view them here

I have a question which is not listed above….
