Those Autumn Vibes

There really is something so very special about Autumn! And especially an Autumn wedding, as it gives the most wonderful opportunity to embrace all the beauty the season has to offer.
Rich, earthy colours, and incredible textures. It really is natures grand finale before the curtains close for Winter.

I was delighted to contribute to this article published on Rock My Wedding in which I spoke of many of the wonderful seasonal attributes Autumn has to offer its wedding couples. Here are the questions I was asked for the piece, and my replies!
Autumn Wedding Flowers & Bouquets - Rock My Wedding
Tell us about some popular and trending styles for autumn wedding flower arrangements and bouquets and why they work so well e.g. metallics, sustainable choices, dried flowers etc?
We love to incorporate what you will see growing naturally in gardens and hedgerows because it instantly tells a story about the time and place of your wedding, so in autumn we include things like seed pods, berries, dried fern leaves and bracken. Incorporating these things add personalty to arrangements and are a sustainable choice as they can be found and/or foraged locally.
What are the most popular flowers for autumnal weddings and why are they popular for the season? Do they have any symbolic meaning etc?
Our number one autumn wedding flower is the beautiful dahlia, they come in such a huge array of colours, sizes and shapes, and we grow our own here so a really good seasonal, and sustainable choice. We also love China Asters and big blousey chrysanthemum blooms, amazing colours and textures. Hydrangeas are a great inclusion too, and lots of our brides ask for them as they hold nostalgia for them, everyone's granny had hydrangeas in their gardens!
Is the pre- and on-the-day care of autumnal wedding flowers different from other seasons? Any top tips on how you can keep them looking fresher for longer?
Autumn flowers usually last pretty well, because it is naturally cooler and darker. As with all flowers if they are conditioned well by a knowledgeable expert you shouldnt have any worries of them wilting or not looking their best on your big day.
Do you have any other comments on autumnal wedding flowers - colour palettes, bouquet shapes and styles…?
Colour and texture are key with autumn bouquets, we want your flowers to look and feel (emotionally) like autumn. In terms of bouquet shapes and styles, well we usually take direction from the ingredients we are working with and the overall vibe of the wedding and bridal party attire. A beautiful finish such as a lux velvet ribbon on bouquets and buttonholes can really work to bring in that warm autumn texture.

Huge thanks to Emma & Mike for sharing their gorgeous Autumn wedding photos by Kate Bean Photography, we LOVED putting together their flowers in October 2022 for their sun blessed day in Courtmacsherry Hotel and afterwards at Monks Lane in Timoleague.

We also worked on a wonderful photoshoot last October with a number of incredible West Cork creatives. The shoot took place at Natural Events ~ a dedicated outdoor venue in the wild hills beyond Dunmanway.

We loved working with Kate from My Table Story combining our floral compositions with seasonal edibles, fabric runners and complimenting candle ware.

All about textures!

You can see lots more from this shoot in our Portfolio . The images are just gorgeous and were captured by Kreativine Frames .
We have lots of really beautiful Autumn weddings coming up this year, we are so excited to work on them all. It really is a season filled with magic! I hope to share many beautiful images from them soon.
